Registration is now open for the International Conference on Conservation and Management of Pollinators is being organized by the Century Foundation in association with Sarawak Convention Bureau, Government of Sarawak, Malaysia is organizing the International Conference on Conservation and Management of Pollinators from September 14-17, 2011 at Damai Beach Resort ( surrounded by oldest tropical rainforest in the world), Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia with the aim of providing a platform for the pollination specialists, ecologists, conservation biologists, agricultural scientists, nature lovers, policy makers etc. and also to exchange and disseminate  information on the recent advances in conservation and management of pollinators in the ecosystem.

سوءاستفاده از صداي مورچه ها

پژوهشگران با بهره گيري از فناوري هاي پيشرفته صوتي موفق شدند صداي گفت وگوي مورچه ها را ضبط كنند.
    محققان دانشگاه آكسفورد با استفاده از ميكروفن ها و بلندگوهاي بسيار مينياتوري كه بدون ايجاد مزاحمت در لانه هاي آنها نصب شده بود، موفق شدند صداهاي توليدشده در لانه مورچه ها را ضبط و بررسي كنند.
    به گفته اين محققان، ملكه مورچه ها به اين طريق دستوراتي را به مورچه هاي كارگر مي دهد. در اين پژوهش حيرت آور مشخص شد ديگر حشرات مي توانند با تقليد صداي ملكه مورچه ها آنها را به خدمت بگيرند.
    نوعي پروانه آبي از جمله اين حشرات است. اين پروانه با تقليد صدا و پيام هاي شيميايي مورچه ها، آنها را وادار مي كند كرم هاي پروانه را به لانه هاي خود ببرند و آنها را تغذيه كنند.
    محققان چند دهه قبل دريافتند مورچه ها قادرند با ايجاد صوت، به يكديگر هشدار دهند اما فقط در پي بررسي اخير محققان دانشگاه آكسفورد بود كه مشخص شد پيام هاي مبادله شده در اين ارتباط به حدي گسترده است كه مي تواند مبين نوعي گفت وگو بين مورچه ها باشد.
    پژوهشگران از طريق بلندگوهاي بسيار ريزي كه در لانه مورچه ها كار گذاشته بودند، با تقليد صداي ملكه توانستند توجه مورچه ها را جلب كنند. در اين حالت مورچه ها بي حركت ايستادند و منتظر شنيدن دستورات ملكه شدند.
