Abstract. We investigated genetic divergence and phylogenetic relationships amongst all known species of Palaearctic butterflies of the genus Melanargia using sequence information from three genes [mitochondrial cox1 barcode region (658 bp), ribosomal 16S rRNA (c. 518 bp), and nuclear wg (404 bp)]. Results show a lack of DNA divergence among several poorly characterized taxa, as well as deep divergences within and between others. We corroborated the molecular information with morphological and genitalic characters as well as with geographic data. We revise the taxonomy of Melanargia, and propose a new systematic scheme for the group. We revive some previous synonymies (M. lucasi meadwaldoi stat. rev., M. ines fathme stat. rev., M. ines jahandiezi stat. rev., M. meridionalis tapaishanensis stat. rev.), revise the status of some subspecies into species (M. transcaspica stat. nov., M. lucida stat. nov., M. wiskotti stat. nov.) and of several species into subspecies of other taxa (M. evartianae sadjadii stat. nov., M. larissa hylata stat. nov., M. larissa grumi stat. nov., M. larissa syriaca stat. nov., M. larissa titea stat. nov., M. lugens montana stat. nov., M. epimede ganymedes stat. nov.), revise the status of subspecies and transfer them to other species (M. larissa lorestanensis stat. nov., M. larissa iranica stat. nov., M. larissa karabagi stat. rev., M. larissa kocaki stat. nov., M. transcaspica eberti stat. nov.), and propose new synonymies (M. larissa titea = M. titea standfussi syn. nov. = M. titea titania syn. nov., M. leda leda = M. leda yunnana syn. nov., M. lugens lugens = M. lugens ahyoui syn. nov., M. lugens hengshanensis = M. lugens hoenei syn. nov., M. halimede halimede = M. halimede gratiani syn. nov., M. asiatica asiatica = M. asiatica dejeani syn. nov., = M. asiatica elisa syn. nov., = M. asiatica sigberti syn. nov.).

The Egg, Larval and Pupal periods were frequently 3.4 ± 0.1 and 4.5 ± 0.1; 12.5 ± 0.2 and 19.1 ± 0.4; 9.8 ± 0.3 and 14.6 ± 0.7 days in 25 ºC and 22 ºC at lab. The total period from egg to adult was 26.07± 0.8 and 37.08± 0.5 days in 25 ºC and 22 ºC at laboratory condition.

It is good to see a paper on butterflies out of Iran for a change. It seems to be a good basic paper but the English is horrifyingly poor."

For the life cycle studies, the eggs were collected from the nature and were developed in petri dishes and 10×12 plastic dishes from egg to adult under laboratory conditions (25±2ºC and 22±2ºC, %60±10 RH and 16/8 L:D). The results showed that the first adults emerged gradually in February 2006. During the summer and the winter in 2007, any forms of this butterfly have not been observed in Abpakhsh. Incubation period of eggs were 3.4 and 4.5 days; Developmental period of larvae were 12.5 and 19.1 and for pupae 9.8 and 14.6 days under temperatures of 25 and 22˚C at the laboratory conditions respectively. The total period from egg to adult was 26.07±0.8 and 37.08±0.5 days in 25 and 22ºC respectively at laboratory conditions. This butterfly had 5 overlaped generations in a year.

چكيده
پروانه خوشه خوار انگور يکي از مهم ترين آفات انگور د ر مناطق ميوه خيز کشور مي باشد .لاروهاي اين آفت با تغذيه از جوانه هاي گل د هند ه، غنچه ها و حبه هاي انگور، خسارت قابل توجهي به محصول وارد مي کنند .د ر سال هاي 1378 و 1379 تحقيقاتي با هد ف تعيين نحوه تغييرات جمعيت پروانه خوشه خوار انگور و تعيين بهترين زمان مبارزه با نصب تله هاي فرموني و همچنين نمونه برد اري از مراحل زمستان گذراني آفت، مرحله تخم، لارو و شفيرگي د ر د و باغ انگور واقع د ر د شت و کوهپايه د ر منطقه سي سخت انجام گرد يد .طي اين بررسي وجود ساليانه سه نسل كامل و نسل چهارم ناقص د ر چرخه زيستي آفت د ر منطقه مورد مطالعه محرز گرد يد .ظهور پروانه هاي نسل زمستان گذران خوشه خوار د ر زماني انجام مي پذيرد که ميزبان هنوز د اراي سبزينه اي نبود ه، حتي جوانه هاي برگ هم متورم نشد ه است. نسل اول خوشه خوار چون د ر زماني ظهور مي کند که کليه واريته هاي انگور فاقد سبزينه هستند احتمالاً د رصد کمي از پروانه ها موفق مي شوند که به تاکستان ها خسارت وارد آورند ، د ر نتيجه خسارت خوشه خوار د ر نسل اول روي کليه واريته هاي انگور قابل چشم پوشي مي باشد . ظهور نسل چهارم چون مقارن با برد اشت ميوه انگور مي باشد ، عملاً خسارت چند اني به تاکستان ها وارد نمي شود .بيشترين خسارت وارد ه بر ميوه ها توسط نسل د وم و سوم صورت مي گيرد و اوج خروج لاروهاي نسل د وم حد ود 10 روز پس از اوج پرواز پروانه ها انجام مي شود . بر اساس نتايج حاصله از اين تحقيق، توصيه مي شود که اولين برنامه سمپاشي د ر منطقه سي سخت د ر اواخر خرد اد ماه د ر گستره زماني د و هفته صورت گيرد . سمپاشي د وم د ر هفته اول مرد اد ماه د ر کاهش جمعيت آفت د ر سال هاي بعد بسيار موثر بود ه است.
